![]() To all people out there: If anyone knows the exact cryptographic function that Microsoft used in Skype 7 to encrypt/hash and store the login data in that XML file, please do let me know in the comments! With the algorithm known, config.xml files for auto-login could be constructed from scratch based on a users’ username and password, thus restoring auto-login. The format of the files is quite different after all. ![]() Unfortunately, the config.xml generated by Skype 8 is incompatible with the old one, so you can’t just log into Skype 8 on Windows 10 and copy that file over to Windows XP and have Skype 7 use it. You can copy that file over existing config.xml files on any target machines that you wish to restore automatic Skype 7 login on. It contains your encrypted credentials, so it serves as a login token. ![]() If you do have such a machine, backup the following file immediately: %APPDATA%\Skype\\config.xml. ![]() If you don’t have any machine with Skype 7 configured in that way, then you’ve been essentially logged out of it for good. Thus, following the instructions below is pointless – my login scripts for Skype 7 have ceased to work, as Microsoft has blocked all interactive logins coming from Skype 7.įor now, there is only one way left to make it work, and that’s only viable if you’ve got at least one machine with Skype 7 configured for automatic login (which still works). As of roughly, the below solution has been deprecated and works no more.
